Cat Stevens: It looks like Yusuf Islam is either a fool or a liar according to the National Post when he says he is all about "peace." TORONTO - Yusuf Islam, the British singer formerly known as Cat Stevens, was the guest of honour at a Toronto fundraising dinner hosted by an organization that has since been identified by the Canadian government as a "front" for the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. In a videotape of the 1998 event obtained by the National Post, Mr. Islam describes Israel as a "so-called new society" created by a "so-called religion" and urges the audience to donate to the Jerusalem Fund for Human Services to "lessen the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Palestine and the Holy Land." Keep him out. Roger Simon has more comment.

Shut up: If you needed any more proof that entertainers should entertain and not try to think too much, Bruce Springsteen drives that point home here in a Rolling Stone magazine recapped by Editor and Publisher. "..he reveals that as "a dedicated" New York Times reader he has gained "enormous sustenance" from columnists Maureen Dowd and Paul Krugman." This is the same as saying you are gained weight by eating tofu.
Bloggers: Nytimes magazine piece on bloggers is a must read because half way thru you realize the author Matthew Klam has absolutely no respect for any of the subjects in this piece other than wanting to do Wonkette. Daily Kos calls it a hatchet job, Josh Marshall has nothing to say on it. Out of the 3 subjects, Marshall gets it the worst, Evangelical Outpost has highlights from the article. Denmark: Danish government secures this guy release from Gitmo and he declares Danish government ministers as legit terror targets. Numerous politicians condemned the remarks and an Iman cleared up the "legality" of killing people. "It is only legal (under Islamic law) to kill individuals who are armed and actively participating in the war in Iraq. Only if the Prime Minister and Defense Minister were armed and actively fighting in the war would it be legal to kill them," said Ferchichi. Nigeria: Rebels says the War starts on October 1st, so oil prices are going to skyrocket if this begins.

Africa: Bus drivers in Swaziland say they will rape any woman wearing a miniskirt. It's times like these I look at the Ali comment in the Daily Quote section and start agreeing with it. Here is hoping these guys meet a nice slow painful elimination from the population pool. California: Only in California can you have DUI checkpoints stopped because they are catching too many illegal aliens.
Germany: Schroeder's SPD party loses again in local elections. SPD is now 1-13 in election results this year. Israel: Israel being blamed for a car bomb in Damascus, Syria that killed A Hamas leader. This should make a whole bunch of terrorists in the region nervous, and not just because it was Israel. They had to have help in knowing where this guy is and help in planting the bomb. Bloggers: Tom Craver of the left falling Independent has his pulse on this new media blogging business by claiming Republicans have hundreds of bloggers ready to act at an instant. "The real story, however, is not Rather, but the fact that Republicans have been so effective at dominating the "blogsphere". The Bush/Cheney headquarters have a team scouring the blogsites for rumours about Kerry. They can instantly marshal hundreds of sympathetic bloggers to knock down attacks on Bush. The blogger who led the charge against Rather was no grungy student or the like but turned out to be a 46-year-old corporate lawyer in Atlanta. It's very reminiscent of 2000, when the Republicans dominated talk-radio, the stealth medium of the last election. " Craver works for the BBC, which explains why he doesn't have a clue about what he is talking about. AllahPundit has more on this idiot.

Che`: Great piece on the ridiculous idolizing by snot nosed college students and aging leftist groupies of Che Guevara, who are now drooling over the movie "The Motorcycle Diaries" based on the writings of a young Che before he becaming a murdering psychopath. Another humorous piece on the legend of Che is from Humberto Fontova called " The Real Che Guevara" from a couple of years ago. Cuba: Fidel is not far behind in being idolized by leftists, Oliver Stone praises Fidel as one of the great world leaders! Stone also shows his conspiracy tin foiling has gotten worse saying the Vast Right Wing monster is everwhere and Anti Castro people are evil liars who stole the Florida election. Detroit: The Detroit council oks a plan for "African Town", a plan to create a black business district where only black-owned business are for black people, also complaints that "...immigrants from Mexico, Asia and the Middle East are stealing resources, jobs and other opportunities from blacks and calls on city leaders to stop the economic shift." Thank you Detroit for continuing to make us black people look stupid year in and year out.
Sudan: African Union wants to send troops to help stop the violence in Darfur, they just need funding. UN refugee chief says maybe autonomy is the answer. Spain: The Metrosexual Prime Minister Zapatero wants to cut funding to the Catholic Church and ban crucifixes from public buildings, but if you think this form of social reform in absolute, his socialist government want to give funding to Mosques and finance Islamic teachings in public schools to promote "understanding" Osama couldn't find a better leader for Spain than Zapatero.

France/Turkey: French PM not at all pleased with Turkey coming into the EU. "We don't think we should tell Turkey that the doors of Europe are forever closed to it," Raffarin told the newspaper, but then said: "Do we want the river of Islam to enter the riverbed of secularism?" Cat Stevens: The ridiculous headline of the day is from the csmonitor.com "One way to alienate moderate Muslims: deport Cat". If the deportation of Cat Stevens for whatever reason he got deported alienates "moderate" Muslims( ed..that's me!) something somewhere is screwed up beyond belief within the Muslim community. This is insulting and makes Muslims out to be mindless drones.

RatherGate: Summary of new developments on CBS and their fake memos here, here, here and here. I have passed the point of are they fake or not. They are fake, now the question is who gave them to CBS, why did CBS, when shown by two experts(via ABC NEWS) that they were problems with the memos, still run the story as definitive proof? Thats the worse thing so far about this. Now we know CBS ran the story with dubious proof instead of being taken in in a rush to get the story out.

Sudan: United State has to weaken a resolution against Sudan to try and get approval for something against the Sudanese government for not stopping the violence. "The new version, amending one debated by the council's 15 member countries last week, maintained the promise of sanctions but substituted the words "shall consider" for "shall take" action in the section outlining possible punishment for noncompliance." "The new proposal, with its focus on Sudan's oil, served to deepen opposition from China and Pakistan, both of which get oil supplies from Sudan. Sudan took in $1 billion in oil revenue in 2002, on production of 250,000 barrels a day. Wang Guangya, the ambassador of China, who said that the resolution would earn a veto from his country unless the language were altered, had no immediate reaction to the revisions. But he suggested that any mention of sanctions on oil would still pose problems for China." France: Looking to bribe and beg companies not to outsource. I doubt it will work unless the incentives get bigger, Eastern Europe is a nice area to get cheap labor and a couple of tax breaks may not cut it for France. Marriage: Its getting common place for Women to exact "revenge" on their husbands this way. This case the guy deserves it, and this one not so much deserving. Elections: Former Washington D.C. Mayor Marion Barry is back!... AGAIN! Bust out the crack and celebrate! Who the hell are these people who keep voting for him?

Bush records: No, I am not surprised that the press would run with the national guard stuff again, After the pounding Kerry took in August and the press being forced to run with the swiftboat stuff, this is payback time for them. Bryon York of the The Hill/National Review writes up a comprehensive review on this whole deal. There is nothing there, but all the press needs to do is confuse the issue and play up certain parts, they want Kerry in and they will do what it takes. Look at it this way, if Kerry loses to Bush after all the water carrying they have done for Kerry, they will look like fools. More on Bush's Records from Captain's Quarters, Justoneminute and Instapundit. Bush Cocaine: Now Sharon Bush who Kitty Kelly said was the source of the "Bush used Coke" charge says she never told Kelly this and denies ever saying it. But, thats not the point of the charge if its true or not, its already out there and Kelly is going to be on the Today Show for 3 mornings in a row with perky Katie spreading these rumors around. That's the whole point, its desperation time for the Media. They are going to throw anything and everything at President Bush hoping it will stick. France: Chirac gets blamed for the French losing influence. Sudan: US gets a draft going in the U.N. to put sanctions on Sudan's oil industry if it doesn't allow an African peace keeping force in.

Sudan: UN is still not satisfied with the sudanese efforts in stopping the killings in the Darfur region. Zell!: Jimmy Carter whines to Zell about his speech at the GOP convention. Zell should have sent a rabbit back. NYTIMES: Dawn Eden points out the Times hellbent on being PC on Islamic Terrorists changing around one of those that were captured to wipe out any hint they may have been Muslim. Original phrasing. Belfast Telegraph:"I did not shoot. I swear by Allah I did not shoot," said the handcuffed man. London Times: "I did not shoot. I swear by Allah I did not shoot," he said. "I swear by Allah I want to live." NYTIMES: "By God, I did not shoot!'' he mumbled when asked if he had fired on fleeing hostages. "By God, I have not killed!'' Pathetic.
Iraq: While the Media was looking forward to the 1000th death in Iraq as a boost for John Kerry, The people on the ground think the media are just vultures. "Dismissing parallels with the 1961-75 war in Vietnam, officers lashed out at the media for playing the grim-reaper over the mounting casualty toll and failing to appreciate the sacrifices made by each soldier. "It sucks. The newspapers glorify it. Everyday, reporting the numbers going up and up, trying to push a point," said Captain Gregory Wingard, 39, at the 1st Infantry Division's Camp Warhorse near Baquba, north of Baghdad."
Idiot: Typical article about Muslims voting for Kerry instead of Bush with this one outstanding bit of stupidity by Fatima Nawaz. "I don't like Kerry," admitted Fatima Nawaz, 23, of Boulder, Colorado, "but I am really, really disgusted by Bush. "He has made it hard for Muslim students to come here, and fostered a negative view of our faith." Bush caused it, not any Islamic Terrorists, only Bush. This idiotic response is not even being touted by most of the Arab/Muslim press anymore after Beslan massarce. "Our terrorist sons are an end-product of our corrupted culture," Abdulrahman al-Rashed, general manager of Al-Arabiya television wrote in his daily column published in the pan-Arab Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper. It ran under the headline, "The Painful Truth: All the World Terrorists are Muslims!"
Guardian: I don't know how this ended up in the left falling Guardian of all places, but David Aaronovitch may have had an epiphany on why the "dumb poor" people would vote for President Bush. "But suppose, for a moment, that the Kansas voters aren't so dumb. Suppose, first, that they don't buy the economic prospectus unwittingly along with the social populism, but consciously because they actually agree with it - because (and this hurts) it does actually tie in with their concrete experience. In other words, their consciousness is not false at all. Why might a poor person be opposed to tax increases and social benefits? Possibly because they hope to be richer themselves, maybe because they believe that high benefits are a disincentive to work and conceivably they believe both because that is exactly what they see happening around them - folks getting rich and folks idling. " and realizes Europe has a problem. "And European social democrats have to concede that there is such a thing as a disincentive to work. As Will Hutton pointed out, writing about Germany in last Sunday's Observer, one "vital prerequisite to restoring German economic health" is for the authorities to "stop offering what amounts to a generous pension for life", cutting it down to something that tides people over between jobs. "

Russia: Russian Government is furious about what/how the EU Dutch presidency said concerning the tragic outcome of the hostage crisis.
AP bias: Captain's Quarters blog has a roundup on the AP putting out a story that a Bush rally crowd booed when he announced that Clinton went into the hospital for bypass surgery. Just a huge embrassment for the Associated Press that they must correct in public instead of hoping it goes away.
Britain: Nonsense by the UK National Black Police Association and people who should know better demanding quotas.
"...But Supt Ali Dizaei, one of Britain's top ethnic minority officers, told
the programme that if two applicants of the same standard - one black, one white
- were interviewed for a job and were the same standard, the black applicant
should get it.
"There is no evidence at all that this debate, if
implemented, is going to cause resentment," he said. "
I know people are always happy to find out they lost a job due to the color of their skin. Its okay because they realize they are just helping us black folk! This fool is one of their top "ethnic minority" officers? I guess he got that based on his skin color and not his intelligence.

Preparing for Hurricane Frances, I hate hunting for supplies. Germany: Gerhard Schroeder facing huge problems with his economic welfare reforms. He is going to lose some more midterm elections for his party(SPD) and unemployment rose to 10.6%. Iran: UK/Germany/France trying to get their Iranian "cut your nukes" deal back on track after Iran basically said go kiss earlier in the year.

RNC 2nd night: Arnold was great, the twins were below average, and Laura Bush was very good. Instapundit has a roundup of opinions. Sudan: Suprise! The Sudanese haven't done enough to curb the violence against Darfur residents. France: France are calling in favors and doing secret deals to try freeing the 2 French Journalists being held. I hope for the best for the journalists, but I wonder if the French will learn something from this? You cannot appease evil because you are bound to do something to make it come to you anyway. The case this time is the headscarf ban which they cannot go back on and the Muslims who don't like the law living in France are stuck in trying to fight the law and now backing the French government to free the hostages. They know if they are killed, the backlash could be terrible for them. Canada: Canadian government getting in a fight with Iran over the murder of Zahra Kazemi, Iran is covering up the crime. But Canada's options on what to do with Iran because they have no political or economic clout with Iran is going to the UN and passing a resolution. Okay, Canada's options are next to nothing.
