Europe: The fallout from Van Gogh's murder is getting bigger and Europeans are getting a bit more strident in putting the message out to immigrants(Muslims in this case) that the right way is the European way. Gerald Schroeder: "Chancellor Gerhard Schröder has warned Germany's immigrant population to come out of the ghettos and integrate better into society, saying he will not allow a foreign culture to develop inside the country." Geert Wilders: " One of the most popular politicians in the Netherlands said yesterday that the country's democracy is being threatened, and called for a five-year halt to non-Western immigration following the killing of a Dutch filmmaker by a suspected Muslim radical" UK: New civil orders could be used to restrict the activities of people suspected of planning terrorist acts, David Blunkett, the Home Secretary, said yesterday. He said the proposed orders - similar to current anti-social behaviour orders - could be imposed on individuals who had not committed an offence but were suspected of "acts preparatory to terrorism". Multiculturalism: Article by Paul Mulshine in the Star Ledger, "Multiculturalism takes a hit " in Holland. "Van Gogh's was the second assassination to arise out of that culture clash. Two years ago, an openly gay politician named Pim Fortuyn was killed by a left-winger who objected to Fortuyn's aggressive attacks on Holland's high levels of Muslim immigration. Though that killing was equally shocking, many Dutch liberals avoided thinking of the implications of Fortuyn's arguments by dismissing him as a right-winger, Evans-Pritchard said. "As soon as you start attacking multiculturalism, you get pegged as a right-winger," said Evans-Pritchard. In fact, the reason that Fortuyn had turned against Muslim immigration was that one of his gay lovers had been beaten up by young Muslims. "He wasn't a right-winger, he was a gay Marxist professor," Evans-Pritchard said of Fortuyn. But the Dutch multiculturalists simply couldn't accept that the experiment had gone wrong. "They were in complete denial about what had happened in this multicultural utopia they thought they had created," he said. " Crime: Camden, New Jersey, most dangerous city in America, Detroit came in second.

Germany: Reaction to the proposed Muslim Holiday in Germany was meant with anger and mockery. "But Schroeder's Social Democrats (SPD) are markedly cool to the proposal following a failed bid earlier this month to abolish the German Unity Day holiday in a bid to boost the economy. SPD Interior Minister Otto Schily slammed the proposed Muslim holiday as "absurd." Some of moderate Greens members also distanced themselves from the idea. "Nobody would dream of proposing to Saudi Arabia that they should celebrate Pentecost," noted Greens parliamentary leader Katrin Goering-Eckardt. Bild, which is Germany's biggest selling tabloid, splashed the proposed Muslim holiday across its front page. "By the beard of the Prophet - send Trittin into the desert wilderness!" declared the paper on its front page, which included a photo-montage of the minister with a turban and thick beard. "

Germany: The aftermath from the death of Van Gogh in Holland is prompting Germany to propose steps to make sure the fighting does not come over there. "Measures being considered by the Interior Ministry and other government departments include the compulsory use of German in Islamic schools, more training for Islamic theologians at German universities and more pressure on foreign-born social welfare beneficiaries to attend German-language classes. " The German Green party members have a solution to make sure it doesn't happen. BERLIN - Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder's Greens coalition partner called on Tuesday for establishing a Muslim public holiday in Germany as a reaction to violence in the Netherlands following the killing of Islam-critical film director Theo van Gogh. "Exactly such a sign is needed given the attacks in Holland," said Stroebele, who like Trittin hails from the party's "fundi" left-wing. Kill a person, make a holiday and everything will be fine. Iran: The agreement between Iran and the EU-3 to stop uranium enrichment is now subject to Iran getting support from Europe at the next IAEA meeting. I have said that Iran is playing Europe for fools, just stringing them along, but it's encouraging to see some doubt from EU President. "But while Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende -- whose country currently holds the European Union's rotating presidency -- said the accord was a "step in the right direction", he warned the enrichment suspension had to be rapidly verified. "If this does not happen we will have no option but to go to the UN Security Council," he told the European Parliament in Strasbourg " Hardees: Things that make America great. Holland: Dutch government wants to expand anti-terrorism laws in the wake of van gogh's murder. Writer at Deutsche Welle shows an alarming yet common naiveness among the EU "elite" about the threat of radical Islamists in Europe.

Fallujah: This is what annoys me about western media when it comes to news about Iraq, they seem to be months behind what is happening on the ground. Knight Ridder story via Matthew Yglesias goes on about Fallujah residents hating the foreign fighters "now" that have taken over their town. The problem with this is that the Iraqi sites have been writing about this since May of this year. Iraqpress.org May 27, 2004 "They have placed the citizens under the Islamic Sharia law. Residents say alleged criminals were in public and shops selling alcohol shut down. The militants have warned that anyone found selling or drinking alcohol will be lashed in public and thieves will have their hands amputated. Barbers and hair dressers are under instructions not to follow hair styles prevalent in the West and they are encouraged to help males grow beards. Women have to cover up and the sexes will have to be segregated in schools and public places." Institute for War & Peace Reporting "...Like many in Fallujah, this policeman expressed resentment at insurgents who are capable of calling someone a spy merely for talking with people from out of town or trying to make a call on a satellite phone. "I hate them,” he said. “The mujahideen can decide 'you're a good man', or 'you're a spy.' If it's 'you're a spy', then you're finished." The resentment is not a surprise. Islam conflicts: Telegraph story on the conflicts between Hui Muslims and Han Chinese coming to the surface after just a traffic accident. What is making me angry is that once again Muslim leaders seem hellbent on taking other Muslims on a destructive path and siding with Islamic terrorists as this is a good thing. "At an Islamic centre in Zhengzhou, where writing on the wall is in both Arabic and Chinese script, passions were clearly aroused by the trouble between Nanren and Weitang. Perhaps ominously, the mosque leaders appear sympathetic to the insurgents in Iraq. The mosque's Ramadan letter declares: "In our Muslim world, our brothers are suffering a great disaster. "Their actions in self-defence have been judged to be extremist terrorism, but they are struggling in an imperialist war that is killing people and rotting modern civilisation." The defiant mood in Iraq is apparently shared by mosque elders, a foretaste of further problems ahead for the Chinese authorities. "If our brothers are being attacked," said one elder, Lao Mai, "it is a duty in our religion to join them in the fight." Perfect example of an Iman leading down the path of nowhere. "A local imam said that one of his followers was found beheaded in rice paddy ditches, a Hui official told The Sunday Telegraph. "They share the same market, but the Hui people are insulted by the Han's behaviour," he said. "The Han stallholders try to sell them pork, pushing it in front of their faces all the time. Now the imam says the Han in Weitang are savages who mock our traditions by cutting our throats." That had better be a misquote because it again puts a stigma on Muslims since beheading is not a Islamic tradition.

CIA: Newsday reports White House is demanding the new CIA director Peter Goss to clean out the agency of leakers and people who have been "disloyal" to President Bush. It's about time the CIA which has become a bloated ineffective entity gets a good enema. The next target better be the State Department and get out all the commie/dictator lovers that is infesting the place.

College: The continuing degradation of Islam/Muslims by idiotic college students continues with a tribute at Northeastern Illinois University as the Muslim Students Association is paying tribute to Sheikh Ahmed Yassin who got properly blown up by IDF with a rocket. This would be akin to the German Students Association paying tribute to Hitler. Yes, that was intellectually lazy but it got to the point. Via Little green footballs.
