EU: Well, Barroso has lost his mind.

European Commission head Jose Manuel Barroso, reviled by critics as too close to the United States in his previous life as Portugal's prime minister, said Europe must make its own model stressing social solidarity as much as competition. "We talk about more jobs and better jobs," he told reporters, presenting his strategic plans for the next five years. "We don't want what are normally called McDonald's jobs." He noted that the usual criticism of the US economy is that it has undergone a "jobless recovery," where economic growth has not been accompanied by a similar boost in employment. "We refuse that path," he said, adding: "We are going to follow our model, the European model... The idea that what my commission is close to the American model has no basis."
Euro Zone unemployment: 8.9% (economic engine of EU) Germany unemployment: 10.8%, Change in Payroll Employment(DEC):(-17000) USA: 5.4% Change in Payroll Employment: +157,000(p) in Dec 2004 Scoreboard Barroso, update the Anti_American talking points if you want to compare economies. There is a reason why our economy keeps getting out of these funks faster than everyone else.
