Australia: I sorta figured certain special interest group could care less about addressing problems than just trying harder to shut people up because of Cronulla.

The Ethnic Communities Council of Western Australia says while the state has the harshest racial vilification legislation in the country, the recent riots in Sydney have exposed loopholes. The council is calling on the Western Australian Government to amend the Racial Discrimination Act. It wants changes that will stop the spread of text and email messages that call for violence and vilification against ethnic and religious groups. Council president Ramdas Sankaran has commended the State Government for having tough racial vilification laws. But he says changes are needed. "Now the recent text messages have shown a remarkable loophole in that so-called harsh legislation," Mr Sankaran said.
