Matt Damon is an ignorant whore.

Politics: What is it with leftists who have don't understand the term "volunteer" army.

NEW YORK With talk of President Bush sending more troops to Iraq in the air, the media debate in the coming week will likely be quite intense. One person likely to fan the fires may come as a surprise: actor Matt Damon, who has never had a high political profile. His main point, in a segment of MSNBC's "Hardball" to be aired on Monday -- he is paired with Robert DeNiro before a college audience -- is that is that the president, to share the burden in Iraq, should send his two daughters over there in any escalation. But in saying that, he may also be accused of stepping in the same kind of trouble visited by Sen. John Kerry back in October in his now famous "botched" joke. Damon suggests in the segment that there is a "fighting class" in the U.S. and people join the military "either for financial reasons or --" but he never got to reason number two, which may come back to haunt him. Here is the transcript of that portion of the interview. * I don't think that it's fair as I said before, that it seems like we have a fighting class in our country. That's comprised of people who have to go for either financial reasons or -- I don't think that that is fair. And if you're gonna send people to war, ahh, if, if we all get together and decide we need to go to war, then that needs to be shared by everybody. You know, and if the President has daughters who are of age then maybe they should go too.
1) The old liberal John Kerry/Charles Rangel line that people who go into the military are poor and/or stupid. Heritage Foundation says otherwise as the Philly Inquirer summarizes it. If you think about it Damon advocates forcing people against their will to go into the military and jeers at those who sign up willingly. Bizarro liberal thinking. 2) A conscription force makes for a poorer military force than those who sign up. 3) Why doesn't Damon sign up for military service or the rest of Hollywood to prove they are willing to share the burden? Hell I would take some major Hollywood stars to point out Islamic terrorism instead of ignoring it. 4) Financial reason or....what? Come on, you went this fare showing your ignorance don't stop. 5) Does Damon realize sending leader's children to war only puts whatever unit they are in more danger than before since it now becomes a prized target? I never understood that line because it makes no logical sense.
